JOINT APPLIED RESEARCH

Industry practitioners and university researchers engage in regular knowledge exchange sessions in areas of mutual interest and expertise. In some cases, faculty members "shadow" industry practitioners in their place of business to better understand how to apply research to solve specific technology business problems. They engage in ongoing dialogues around specific research topics, seeking ways to apply theoretical knowledge to the complex business problems large, global technology organizations face every day.

The HUB collaborators agree projects selected for joint research must meet three criteria:

  • Have potential to generate realizable business value
  • Be suitable scholarship for faculty members
  • Be appropriate for training students

Research projects can be conducted between one university and one company or across multiples universities and companies participating in The HUB. Companies identify key areas of focus and universities match their expertise to those topics. Industry practitioners and university researchers jointly define the project, develop the proposal and conduct the research.
